New Equipment: Studio Pro Resistance Trainer

I just bought a new piece of exercise equipment – Studio Pro Safety Resistance Trainer to replace my old resistance tube.

Blonngg! My old resistance tube snapped a couple of weeks ago in the middle of my training session.

I’m lucky I didn’t get hurt. 🙂

I think that it was caused by a combination of long-term wear and tear (I think I had been using the tube for over a year) PLUS the fact that I’ve grown consistently stronger during the last year and especially the last few months.

Here is what is left of my old resistance tube and two resistance bands. One of the bands actually snapped two times in row!

All my regular resistance bands have also snapped quite recently (one of them broke in two pieces).

I’ve my bands for  lateral band walks that have been a part of my warm up routine for a long time. I guess my glutes have also gotten stronger – lateral band walks are supposed to be good for activating the glutes. 🙂


I knew that my new resistance tube had to offer considerably more challenge than the old one. The problem was that when I checked my local sporting goods stores they only had these light or medium resistance tubes available.

I finally found a new resistance tube online. I ordered a level 4 (extra strong) tube. 🙂

My new resistance tube comes with a ribbed protection sleeve, sturdy handles and a door attachment. Thanks to the door anchor the new tube will be more versatile than the old one. Plus it has a 12-page booklet full of exercises. I already got ideas for increasing resistance on some moves that have become too easy to me, like simple pelvic raises.

I’ve used the resistance band once so far. I’m glad I got a new one because now I find the rows and wood choppers challenging again.

In case you’re curious, I use the resistance tubing as a cable replacement in moves like rows, arm extensions, wood choppers and reverse wood choppers. (I usually anchor the other end of the tube to my table leg or my chin up bar!).

I wonder how long it takes this time till I’m done with the resistance tube and have to get something that offers even heavier resistance.

Question: How often do you need to switch to heavier weights or equipment that offers more resistance?
