My Incredible Shrinking Belly

Ok, the title may be a bit of an exaggeration. 🙂 I took a new set of weight loss pictures last week, but because of all the hassle, I didn’t get to publishing them before.


I think you can see – especially from the front picture – that my belly is shrinking. Not so much from the side pictures. That’s interesting because for the last 1,5 months or so my weight has been on a standstill. It has hovered between 69,3kg – 69,8 kg (that’s 1.1lb). So nothing much has happened weight-wise, but my belly fat is burning away. Very good.


I can feel myself that the rolls in my lower abdomen are shrinking. My jeans feel loose and baggy and I think I need to get a new pair of jeans soon. Besides, spring is just around the corner and we soon get to shed outer layers of clothing in Finland. I can’t go around wearing baggy jeans anymore.

What would all the eligible bachelors think? 🙂


I’ve been very happy with my new workout schedule (I switched to working out in the morning before I start working). I’m always energetic and in a good mood when I start my day after a strenuous strength training session. It’s quite different than the mornings where I don’t do anything physical – maybe I should start doing some cardio on the other mornings?

When the weather gets warmer, I could even start taking brisk walks outside.

I can also feel the effect of my increased strength training (I went from 1-2 weekly workouts to 3 workouts – except for last week which was a catastrophe). I’m clearly stronger already and I can feel how my posture is improving. I’ve worked hard at strengthen my weak lower trapezius and increase the mobility of my thoracic spine.  Still, my posture always collapses when I work long days at the computer. 🙁

    Hi Satu! You’ve been doing great with your weight and exercise. You’ve been consistent, which is key. Your consistency is paying off. I had a bit of a plateau these past few weeks, but I have a plan for that.

    Regarding your exercising, you’ve come a long way. Very good! Keep at your challenging level where it is very hard but you can still do it. Keep being tough on yourself. I miss my morning weekday workouts. I should be doing something each morning because it peps me up for the day. So thanks for that reminder.

    I ran a mile at the gym yesterday (and then walked a mile) before 2 hours of yoga. Can you believe that? I hadn’t run a mile since 2009. It wasn’t bad at all–though I do feel a little stiff in my thighs from it this morning.

    Guys don’t care about perfect weight that much as you’d think. I’ve talked to many guys about this. They do want a woman to look pretty though: nice hairdo, a little make-up, nice outfit, in shape, a smile, fun…All of those things, you can already do. 😀

      Being able to run sounds fantastic, Marion! I’m all envious. I’m sure getting well-fitting jeans can’t hurt in the “manhunt”? 🙂

  2. I love the non-scale victories (NSVs) – and your tummy is disappearing.

    Great work on the morning exercise. I struggle with mornings at the moment, but as I’m not working guess it’s not a problem. (Must try to stop castigating myself for it though!)
