Rest & Recreation Weekend

black bean brownie with raspberry toppingAnother quiet weekend.

I must be stressed out indeed! Yesterday morning I woke up late and checked the news. When I read a story of a couple who has traveled around the world since 2004, I  started dreaming of a vagabond lifestyle (leaving behind the rat race…).  I decided it’a a good idea to take another weekend “off”.

Mostly I’ve just slept, watched  movies and tried a couple of new recipes. Yesterday I made myself roasted curried cauliflower (yummy!) and today I  baked black bean brownies (sans chocolate chips) for the first time. I’ve wanted to try them ever since I heard that kind of recipe – beans in a brownie! – exists

I was surprised at how tasty and filling the brownies are, but I have to admit I like the raw brownie batter better than the end result. 🙂 I enjoyed my brownies with a raspberry topping.

Exercise-wise, I’m on a maintenance mode. I try to take at least one long walk per day, but have no energy to do anything extra like swing my kettlebells or do some other form of strength training. I’ve also done four Feldenkrais lessons and manipulated my trigger points every day to get rid of my muscle tensions.

I also spent some quality time planning a wardrobe for my little niece’s barbie dolls. Lots of pink, satin and lace,  I think! 🙂

Hi Satu! I checked out both recipes–very interesting! I should try the cauliflower with curry! I adore curry and throw it on many foods randomly. We’ve gone through more than a pound of curry this year!

The black bean brownies are surprising. I *never* thought of making a dessert with black beans! I should try it!

Regarding exercise, I haven’t been making it to the gym as many times per week as I’d like. I have so much stuff going on at work, the kids are busy, I home school the teen son. But, surprisingly, I’m still doing very well there on about 3 days per week! I do pretty hard workouts. I’m still sore from the weightlifting episode on Sunday.

I’ve been sleeping more–because tired brains need that. More warm baths, body butter for dry skin, fruity perfumes.

I actually *am* going on vacation to visit my middle daughter, Katarina, at Pittsburgh on November 23. A quick get-away–It should be fun!

    🙂 Marion

Hi Marion! You should try the black bean brownies. They are very velvety and taste even better when you eat them cold.

I should also add some beauty stuff to my relaxation days.

Glad you had a chance to have a relaxing weekend! I would love to travel more – sadly my bank account says otherwise! 😀

Im in the same situation. I dream of doing a continent-wide road trip in the US and visiting Chicago. One day you’ll find me standing on your doorstep requesting a dinner chez Biz! 🙂

  3. Glad you had a nice restful weekend!

I could definitely live the traveling lifestyle. If Kev told me to sell everything tomorrow (except our pets and all my business stuff lol) I would be all over that. You know we love to travel and I would like to do that more often.

Ohh and curried cauliflower sounds awesome!

Nothing really prevents me from doing the same – except my financial situation. These days it doesn’t much matter where you live as long you have a laptop..
